Jimmy fires Killie

Byline: Colleen Strachan at Rugby Park

Half-time words help Calderwood's men past Saints

KILLIE boss Jimmy Calderwood praised his players' attitude after watching them twice come from behind to claim victory over St Johnstone - but revealed Giverchy Replica Handbags it took some harsh words at half-time to get them fired up.

Calderwood's men fought back from a Peter MacDonald opener to go in level at the break, thanks to a strike from Chris Maguire, and then levelled again through Garry Hay after Graham Gartland's header had give Saints the edge.

Their persistence finally paid off when Kevin Kyle sent home a bullet header of his own to ensure all three points stayed at Rugby Park.

Kille are now undefeated in their last eight matches and have won their last four on the bounce but Calderwood believes there is still room for improvement.

He said: "I was pleased with the result and the character that they showed against a very good St Johnstone side but I was very disappointed with the first half.

"They were the better team in the first 45 minutes and caused us a lot of problems, I thought that we were fortunate to get the goal just before half time to be honest.

"There were a few harsh words at half time but they didn't really seem to help at the beginning of the second half but we got there in the end. We won the game without being at our best and we seem to be carrying that wee bit of luck at the moment. But the character that we are showing just now has been great, coming back from twice being behind in a massive game for us, says a lot about us."

Kilmarnock's Maguire was in scintillating form throughout the 90 minutes and almost made an early breakthrough when he fired in a shot on the turn which looped towards Graeme Smith's goal, only for the Saints keeper to somehow get across to push the ball away with one hand.

Kyle then found himself in space just on the six yard line but could only send his shot high over the crossbar before Hay sent an effort just inches past Smith's top right-hand corner. But nine minutes before the break it was the Saints who took the lead, although they lost their goalscorer in the process, Panerai Watches MacDonald turning two defenders to slot home from a Dave Mackay cross and then limping off just a matter of seconds later.

That goal gave the visitors a real shot in the arm and Kenny Deuchar, who had come on to replace MacDonald, almost added another with one of his first touches as he stabbed the ball past Killie keeper Cammy Bell, only for Jamie Hamill to get back to hoof the ball clear of the goal-line.

However, a free-kick brought Killie level before the break after three Saints players failed to clear the danger and the ball fell straight to Maguire who lashed it high into the net behind Smith. The Rugby Park side fell behind shortly after the restart though, with the simplest of goals. Graham Gartland raced up the field to head home Danny Grainger's free-kick from the right-hand side of the box.

However, Killie hit back for the second time in the match and again Maguire was involved, this time with a clever free-kick that saw him feed Hay to slot the ball home on the angle.

Their comeback was complete when Kyle got on the end of a cross from Mehdi Taouil to bullet home a header from close range.

In the dying seconds Saints could have snatched the equaliser that t

Jimmy Dean among inductees to

Ferlin Husky usually gets a lot calls in the spring from friends telling him this has to be the year hell be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Every year Ive heard that for the last 15 or 20 years, Husky said with a laugh. This time its true. The Country Music Association on Tuesday announced that Husky and three other genre-expanding country music stars will be new inductees to the Marni Fake Handbags Hall of Fame.

Husky joins fellow crossover pioneer Jimmy Dean, producer Billy Sherrill and top-selling singer Don Williams. The men will be inducted into the Hall in Nashville, Tenn., later this year. Its been a long wait for Husky, who is 84. One of the best-selling popular artists regardless of genre in the 1950s and 60s, Husky figured he just wasnt country enough for the Country Music Hall of Fame. The main thing Im proud of this is for my family and for the many people who want to see me go in there before I die, Husky said. Its a great honor. Husky and Dean both selected as Veterans Era Artists in a tie under a new selection process this year took country music to wider audiences by using the relatively new medium of television to earn new fans. Dean, best known for the spoken narrative hit Big Bad John, hosted The Morning Show, an early morning variety show on CBS, was the first guest host for The Tonight Show and had his own variety show on CBS that featured country artists as guests. He became a headliner at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl and became the first country star to play on the Las Vegas strip. He also was an actor with parts in television and the movies, including the role of James Bonds ally Willard Whyte in the 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever. Husky also achieved pop success before turning to TV and film. He was a variety show regular and among the first country artists to get a star on the Hollywood Replica AH Handbags Walk of Fame. He had several hits, including Wings of a Dove and Gone, and sold millions of records. I didnt say it was country, but it was a country boy doing it, Husky said. Williams started his recording career with a folk-pop outfit and moved to Nashville in the early 1970s. He went on to record 17 No. 1 hits in the U.S. and earned a large following in Europe. He also appeared in movies, including Smokey and the Bandit II. Sherrill, 73, ranks among Nashvilles greatest producers and was named songwriter of the century by BMI in 1999. He shaped the careers of Tammy Wynette, George Jones and dozens of other country stars. Influenced heavily by producers as diverse as Owen Bradley and Phil Spector, Sherrill brought a more sophisticated sound to Nashville that helped push country music to a more mainstream audience. The Grammy winner used strings and backing vocals to great effect and wasnt afraid to try new things even if no one seemed to like it at first. They called it countrypolitan or something like that, Sherrill said. I always took a lot of heat for using violins and things like that. He remembers adding a saxophone on Jones cover of the Ray Charles song, Hallelujah, I Love Her So. We didnt do it while George was there, Sherrill said. He left town and I overdubbed the sax. I thought he was going to kill me. He said, What have you done! My people, theyll hate me. The record sold just fine, validating yet another unconventional decision. Over time, though, Sherrill got tired of hearing the complaints from publishers and critics. So he booked a flight to New York to visit with his boss at Epic, Clive Davis. The legendary dior Handbags record executive couldnt believe what he was hearing. He said, Do you want to get in trouble with me? Sherrill remembered. I said, No, Clive. He said, Get on a plane, go back to Nashville and do your own songs or youll get in trouble and I may have to

Second-half points seal victor

Wimborne 2nd XV 10 Frome 2nd XV 16

Having been gifted two league points due to Oakmeadians not being able to field a side last week, Frome seconds made the trip to Wimborne to face a home side in a good vein of form.

After a swift pre-match preparation, the home side kicked-off 20 minutes after the Somerset men had arrived, but this did not faze Frome as they absorbed whatever Wimborne threw at them.

With a young back-line, the Dorset men looked to move the ball wide at every opportunity as they were not getting anywhere through the heart of the Frome defence.

During a good passage of play, Frome attacked the narrow blind side and, with excellent linking up and swift hands, the forwards came within a few metres of the line.

Fake Panerai Watches

After strong running and great recycling of the ball, Joe Sargeant crashed over underneath the posts. The conversion was missed.

Frome continued to pressure the home side's line and were rewarded with a penalty from skipper Matt Maddocks.

Wimborne came back hard at Frome, stretching the Somerset men across the pitch and scoring two unconverted tries to edge ahead 10- 8 at the interval.

The game went without score for the majority of the second half. Again Wimborne looked to force the ball wide but were unable to penetrate or go around the Frome defence.

Frome edged ahead with 10 minutes remaining when Maddocks kicked a thomas wylde Bags penalty to make it 11-10.

The home side tried to force the play, which allowed Frome to create great field position, and MacDonald slipped through the heart of the Wimborne midfield to score at the base of the post.

On Saturday, Frome travel to Blandford for a rearranged fixture.

Frome 3rd XV 24 Nailsea & Backwell 2nd XV 5

Frome took on Nailsea and Backwell seconds on Saturday keen to avenge their heavy defeat earlier in the season.

They started the game brightly and confidently, with the forwards more than holding their own against their wily counterparts.

From an early scrum, the excellent Liam Sheldon found skipper Mark O'Shea, who unselfishly released Steve Gilson to break through and run for 40 metres before offloading to Chav King, who scored an excellent debut senior try under the posts. Dave Abrahams converted.

Gilson repeated his feat five minutes later, making 35 metres before releasing Abrahams to score in the corner.

Nailsea had also come to play and put Frome under pressure, flanker Fraser Thomson being sin-binned and the home side conceding several penalties, which Gucci Watch eventually led to a try for the visitors.

The rest of the half continued in the same way, with Nailsea the keener to contest the breakdown, but the Frome defence holding firm.

After the break, Frome introduced Daz Bowles and his impact was immediate, with some strong carries. Lucas Ives also entered the fray and began to make his presence felt.

Frome put together some good passages of play when the ball was moved through the hands to Abrahams, who took the gap created by another Gilson burst, put the gas on and rounded the full-back to score, before converting to make it 19-5.
