CLINTON - The DeWitt County Angel Tree program now is accepting applications from families who are struggling to buy their children gifts for the holiday season.
The program provides children with coats, clothing, shoes and toys if they qualify under state poverty guidelines. All information provided by applicants is confidential and each child is assigned a number Replica sandal for identification purposes.
People wanting to supply the items will be able to adopt recipients from the Angel Tree starting Nov. 1.
The maximum income for each family is: $1,821 per month for one adult and one child; $2,289, family of three; $2,757, family of four; $3,224, family of five; $3,692, family of six; $4,160, family of seven; and $4,627, family of eight.
Applicants, who must be DeWitt County residents, may sign up at DeWitt County Community Action, 1700 E. Main St., Clinton, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and noon and 1 and 4 p.m. each Franck Muller Watches Monday through Friday. Proof of income for the past 30 days is needed. Bring a paycheck stub or letter from employer or a zero-income form will be provided.
Social Security cards are needed for each child to be placed on the Angel Tree list. Children must be attending school if they are of school age.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 13.
Donors will drop off the gifts Dec. 7 at the Clinton Elks Club, and applicants will pick up their gifts Dec. 11.
