Police cracking down on a rash of robberies by young criminals on bikes have made two arrests.
Young thieves have been targeting women to steal handbags in the Berwick Hills, Longlands and Gypsy Lane areas of Middlesbrough.

On Sunday evening a woman was returning to her car in Berwick Hills when a duo rode up. One kicked a pile of rubbish on the road to gain her attention while the other grabbed her bag.
But Fendi Handbags within a hour officers had arrested a teenager and a man in his mid-twenties.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Bradley of Middlesbrough CID said: "Always make sure you keep valuables like handbags and mobile phones out of sight and just be aware robberies often involve youths on bikes."
* A boy aged 16 and a 26-year-old man were appearing before Teesside magistrates today charged with robbery.
